For Christmas, someone got me an Aqara Door and Window Sensor P2. It’s a Matter over Thread device. The first one I have. The only other Matter devices I have so far are Matter over Wi-Fi (Nanoleaf Essentials Holiday String Lights) and two Wi-Fi-connected-but-Thread-gateways in the form of Nanoleaf Shapes.
When I attempted to pair it with my Home Assistant… it couldn’t correctly pair with the device.
After like 7 tries… I went to the Internet....
Background So I want voice assistants, but I don’t want to send all my data to either Google or Amazon. Fortunately, Home Assistant called 2023 their Year of Voice and worked a lot on voice last year. Instead of dealing with it being half-baked all year, now that it’s 2024… I’m going to try it out.
I’m following Home Asssistant Blog’s $13 assistant blog post.
I went and bought one of these things from M5Stack....

It’s also a wildcard certificate which worked okay for all my other services.
Except I decided to add another level of hierarchy to my internal domains so each router/location would have its own device.location.domain.com instead of every device being device....
Lo and behold the key in the KeyVault expired for the site.
Here’s how I fixed it.
